Genocide Prevention Knowledge Base

The Commons' approach to improving governance and promoting more constructive conflict focuses on synthesizing and making more readily accessible the contributions of those actively working to advance governance, conflict, and related fields.  The Commons' new Special Projects section highlights the work of those who have become actively involved in helping to advance the Commons initiative.

Our first special project is a collaborative effort to prevent genocide in the African Great Lakes Region.  We are using the Governance Commons to assemble a genocide prevention knowledge base that empowers collaborations between:

  • the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region,
  • the School for Conflict Resolution at George Mason University,
  • Ted Perlmutter at Columbia University,
  • and our original TGC development partners at the Conflict Information Consortium.

We are in the process of actively recruiting additional "charter contributors."  These individuals and organizations will go beyond participation in the Commons' various online discussions, comments, and announcement systems; they will offer either original material written specifically for the Commons or help in integrating their online publications into the Commons framework.
