Privacy Policy

Updated: June 24, 2011 at 01:08 UTC

This document refers to all websites and applications affiliated with The Governance Commons (henceforth collectively referenced as TGC), located at http://www.thegovernancecommons.org (including subdomains and subdirectories thereof) .

General Information Collection

The TGC servers automatically record certain information about site traffic (which may include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, Internet service provider (ISP) information, referring pages and search engines, platform types, date/time stamps, and other data). This information is not further linked to any personally identifiable information; it is used by TGC to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Additionally, TGC utilizes Google Analytics, which independently records TGC traffic using a modified version of the data described above (i.e. a segment of each IP address is deleted to further protect visitors' privacy).

User Accounts

  • Personally Identifiable Information

In order to request and maintain a user account, you will need to supply your e-mail address and username preference. This data is e-mailed to — and stored at the discretion of — the site operators ("Administrators"), and is also stored on the TGC server.

The Administrators will not intentionally disclose your personally identifiable information to any third party without your prior consent, except when compelled to do so by law.

The Administrators will strive to ensure that the personally identifiable information that you privately provide to them (via user account request form, contact form, or any other mode that may be reasonably deemed "private") will not be accessible to anyone other than the Administrators without your prior consent.

Your username, as well as any material that you choose to publicly provide (e.g., by creating or editing a page for publication on TGC, submitting a comment, editing your user profile, posting to the forum, or submitting information via any other mode that may be reasonably deemed "public") may be accessible to the public, without regard for the presence (or lack) of personally identifiable information contained therein.
